The Sector for Education and Training Authority came into being in 2000 as a brainchild of Government and Industry to develop the education and skills levels of South African employees to be on the same standard as the rest of the world. By establishing as Sector for Education and Training Authority for every industry sector there could be more control over the quality and initiatives for training which would be applicable to the specific sectors. There is a Sector for Education and Training Authority for every sector to oversee that the materials and training are on standard ensuring that a qualification gained in one province could be recognized in all the provinces of South Africa.
