Amendments to B-BBEE Scorecard (March 2018)

CRUCIAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT CHANGES TO SOME OF THE B-BBEE SCORECARD ELEMENTS – Are you aware?

On the 29th of March 2018, Government published amendments on some of the  B-BBEE scorecard Skills Development Elements (Government Gazette 41546). What this means is that your current Skills development project may be in jeopardy if you have not adjusted your training accordingly.  Below follows a breakdown of these amendments and what they could mean for your company:

Important things to note:

  • No double-dipping allowed for 2.1.1.1 and/or 2.1.1.2
  • No double-dipping allowed for 2.1.2.1 and/or 2.1.2.2
  • No Points will be awarded without submitted (WSP) Work Skills Plan
  • Measured Entity must achieve a min of 40% of the total weighting points EXCLUDING bonus points (40% of the 20 Points)
  • Stipends linked to a bursary programme in terms of 2.1.1.2 can count towards skills development spend
  • Skills Development Spend for 2.1.1.2 (bursaries) is a grant made to or for students who are registered at educational institutions established by or registered with the Department of Higher Education & Training
