Adult Basic Education is not a societal ‘nice to have’ it is an imperative. Without an educated workforce South Africa will not be bale to take its place amongst the wealthier of nations and will merely stumble along in its quest for first world status. Already the country has been recognised as key to regional development and the trickle down effects of an educated populace will be felt way beyond its borders. ABET is therefore not only responsible for uplifting the lives of the citizens of this country but the wellbeing of the entire sub Saharan region. ABET’s ramifications are not only felt in South Africa.
