Adult basic education and training are transforming communities across South Africa. Where before the Bantu education system had left community members with no hope for the future today ABET programs set up by government and private enterprise have provided hope for a better future. These ABET programs which are aimed at eradicating illiteracy and providing opportunities for further education have been recognised for their ability to change lives. By providing the basic skills of reading, writing and arithmetic members of these communities are able to dream of a better future for themselves and their children and consequently a better future for the entire country.
