ABET level 3 is the equivalent of standard 3 or grade 5. At this level the learner can handle quite complex mathematical problems and can read and write at a fairly advanced level. In addition to the literacy and numeracy skills that the learner has gained while moving upwards through the levels of training and education that are provided by ABET the learner has also been exposed to a curriculum that also stresses training in life skills that are required to cope with an ever more complex social environment. Some of these skills are of practical use, such as the operation of an ATM or taking telephone messages.
