Ideally the Adult Basic Education and Training learner should at least be able to progress through levels one, two, three and four, giving him or her the equivalent of a grade 12 education. However at an average of 120 hours per level most businesses cannot afford this amount of time off. However even a learner that has achieved level 1 is significantly more able to cope with the rigors of the modern workplace and is in a better position to contribute more to the company’s bottom line. Studies have shown the higher the educational level of the worker is, the more satisfied they are with their job. For these reasons it makes sense for business to take an active role in providing ABET opportunities for their employees.
