The ABET curriculum entails four main levels, but also includes a Level 1 which can be seen as a bridging level. In this basic level the participant is taught how to identify, write, and apply letters of the alphabet, differentiate between vowels and consonants, and learn the basics of sentences. As they progress with each level, the difficulty will also increase. The ABET levels for communication include all the aspects that are taught for Grades 3-9. It will also include information requesting, supply, and conveying messages in an understandable form. They will learn how to organize text and apply their knowledge in basic writing. It should be noted that the ABET courses are focussed on adults and as such courses are presented in a manner appropriate to adult learning.
