Levels 1 to 4 of the Adult Basic Education and Training programme aim to provide learners with basic education in reading writing and maths. These levels also place emphasis on teaching financial lifeskills to individuals to assist them in managing their personal finances better. This includes providing them with information of how the banking sector operates from opening a bank account to understanding interest and bank charges that are deducted once an account has been opened. A learner will also gain skills that will help them budget on a monthly basis so that they live well within their means and give them information on how to plan financially for the future.
