SETA stands for Sector Education and Training Authority. The start of SETA organizations in South Africa can be traced back to the year 2000 when the Minister of Labour started a program to develop the skills level of workers in South Africa according to international standards and thus also recognizable within the specific economic sector. There are various SETA organizations which get new additions every now and then. The SETA organisation in an industry oversees the training quality and materials for that industry and make sure the course providers offer training according to required guidelines and standards for that industry. There is a SETA for each of the main economic sectors.
