Staying ahead of the curve as Leaders in Adult Education and Training
The only thing that is constant is change. Heraclitus

We began changing the face of adult education in South Africa in 1991. Since then we have seen much transformation. Our vision to Change Lives Together by educating employees, enriching lives, and empowering organisations has run parallel with the country’s need for training and skills development.

The implementation of equal opportunities led to the introduction of BEE, amplifying the need for adult skills development to prepare a capable workforce.

You don’t need a history lesson to know that things haven’t gone quite as planned.

Despite all the events of the past 27 years, we remain steadfast and determined in our goal. We have positively impacted the lives of millions of South Africans, and we endeavour to continue doing so for as long as needed. In the process, we ourselves have had to tweak and change a few things in order to stay at the forefront of the training business.

So, what’s changed?

Promoting adult education and skills development has become tricky.
  • ABET is losing priority with SETAs, so fewer grants are available. This means that companies are not encouraged to implement foundational training.
  • The motive for training has become skewed with the focus on scorecard points instead of employee and community development.
  • The number of people attending training, at a foundational level, has dropped, making it more difficult for companies to invest resources in this group.
  • Unreliable training companies are grappling for business, compromising on quality; leaving companies disgruntled and learners disheartened due to their slipshod methods.

We adapted our training products to suit a new market

When we found ourselves in a market that resembled a red ocean, we decided it was time to set ourselves apart. In a shoal of small fish, we decided to be a marlin.

Competition becomes irrelevant when ideas cannot be duplicated.

We chose to reframe what we do

  1. Keep it simple

    • Present the product in such a way that it can be sold in under an hour.
    • Cut down on quote time.
    • Reduce the amount of client effort.
    • Offer more flexibility.
We found a new way of doing what we do – just better.

We are taking the concept of classroom learning and shaking it up completely.

What do we mean by classroom learning?
A group of learners attending at the same time, doing the same sort of thing.
  2. What do we do differently now?

  3. We give you a facilitator for a preselected number of hours per week whom you can utilise to do your training – any training, within those hours, on your site. Learners can attend at any time during the allocated hours, depending on their shifts and your production. Instead of fixed class-times, we now offer sessions. Should you need to reschedule, you simply arrange with the facilitator.

This means that you can now schedule your sessions around public holidays, strikes, leave days, and the like.

    In other words …
We rent our facilitators out to our clients.

‘Classes’, ‘levels’, ‘groups’ and ‘subjects’ have made way for an agent (facilitator) who is on site for your training convenience.

  4. How does this help you?

  5. If you have one employee who is doing AET level 1 – 3, and another two who are doing FLC, you have the choice of allocating two hours to one and two hours to the other, or, because it is a small group, combine them. These sessions can have a maximum of ten unique learners per session. This becomes very convenient when you have employees who join a training programme later than the others. Employees can fall in and attend the session because the facilitator tutors each trainee at their specific level.

If you consider that we are selling AET, FLC, and Learnerships in one package, there is nobody to compare us to – and that was our goal. As we said above, “competition becomes irrelevant when ideas cannot be duplicated”.

You choose your training in a package – four half sessions a month, eight half sessions a month, four full sessions a month, etc., – and utilise the allocated time as you require. There are no hours to be counted here; your programme ends when your employees are ready.

Our job is to manage the learning – we provide the training material and make certain that the programme runs smoothly, issuing progress reports and ensuring that the facilitator is up to standard.

Introducing our Training Packages

#Adult Training and development
Triple E Training developed training in a box. Your company can now benefit from unified work-based training for your employees. Unskilled employees to semi-skilled employees can now join the project in different programmes, subjects and levels.

1. Training-in-a-box Unpacked

This package is made up of three options:
WALK, RUN, and FLY

WALK is one half-session per week.
RUN is two half-sessions per week.
FLY is four half-sessions per week.
One half-session is for four hours.

Bearing in mind that you can have employees on any-and-all levels during one session, we would like to take a moment to mention that we do not recommend the WALK package if you have several trainees whose learning areas are too far removed. There is not enough opportunity in one half-session per week for the facilitator to spend contact time with each person.

Please Note:
Exams are optional and therefore not included in the package fee.

Examples:

  1. You buy two different packages, one WALK and one FLY; as per your training needs. Your trainees may attend sessions at different times of the day.
  2. You bought our RUN package which allows for two half-day (four-hour) sessions per week because you have six AET and four FLC Learners. You may divide your first four-hour session into two, two-hour sessions on different days for your AET learners and have a combined session with all learners on another day for the other four hours.

  3. There’s more in it for you!

Included in the RUN and FLY packages we have the following free courses for you to choose from as add-ons:
    • Introduction to computers (PC required)
    • Personal Finance (eMoney)
    • Time Management
    • HIV / AIDS

There are a bunch of FREE services included in WALK, RUN and FLY

    • On-site awareness session with your employees
    • Placement Assessment
    • Employee Workbooks and Portfolio
    • Employee Statement of Results
    • Quality Assurance Visits
    • Monthly Feedback Reports
    • Project Management and Ongoing Communication
    • Key Account Manager Visits
    Questions and Answers.
How can you now include different subjects and different levels?
Triple E has been doing mixed levels for many years, and we have proof that it works. This is not a teacher in front of a class of forty pupils; it is a facilitator tutoring individuals. If you visit one of our training sessions it will take a moment for you to locate our facilitator, as nine out of ten times he or she will be sitting amongst the trainees.

What happened to Triple E’s excellent placement assessment?
Assessments are included in the packages. Session one is an assessment session for every learner, even those who start training at a later date.
The beauty of this concept in summary:
    • You choose a package which allows you to rent-a-facilitator
    • You can mix multiple skills levels in one session
    • You decide when you want your sessions to take place
    • You can add learners as and when other employees need training

    2. Community-in-a-can Unpacked

This package is made up of three options:
    EDUCATE, ENRICH and EMPOWER
    #Community
Our community projects benefit the entire community, not just the unemployed or disabled community members who have been selected for adult training and development. The training venue is hired from a local church or community centre; the money they earn from the venue hire is plowed back into the community. In catering for the adult learners, a local caterer is hired to procure and prepare the food. The food is purchased from local stores, and the caterer has to employ people to help with the extra work. Community projects managed by Triple E Training ensure that the whole community benefits.

As the name suggests, this is an opportunity for you to get involved in community projects.
EDUCATE: AET, duration 15 days per ABET level
ENRICH: Learnership (Business Practice) for pre-qualified learners, duration 1 year
EMPOWER: Learnership (Business Practice), duration 1 year

These options also allow you to choose between a variety of add-ons depending on your budget and goals. These add-ons include venue hire, transport costs, recruitment of specific demographics of learners, and stipends; which are mandatory with ENRICH and EMPOWER.

As with all our packages assessments are included; session one is an assessment session for every learner.

What is the difference between ENRICH and EMPOWER?
Triple E recruits community members for your projects.
The ENRICH option affords you a certain level of Unemployed Learner; one ready to start on NQF level 1, therefore harder to come by.
The EMPOWER option starts with training that will get the learner up to ABET level 3, before starting with the learnership.

What else is included with this package?

    EDUCATE, ENRICH and EMPOWER
    • Recruitment
    • Assessments, Materials and Results

    • Learner Stationery

BUILD consists of two half-day sessions per week.
EXPLORE consists of four half-day sessions per week.
    Sessions are four hours each.

Built into BUILD and EXPLORE you will find the following free services:

    • On-site awareness session with your employees
    • Placement Assessment
    • Workbooks and Portfolio
    • Statement of Results
    • Quality Assurance Visits
    • Monthly Feedback Reports
    • Project Management and Ongoing Communication
    • Key Account Manager Visits
    • ABET/ FLC/ Learnership NQF1 BP
The principle is the same as Training-in-a-box Unpacked; options include ABET, FLC, and Learnerships for mining employees.

    Exams are optional.
    Are you claiming grants?

It is only necessary for your employees to write exams if you are claiming grants, that is why the exams are optional, over and above the cost of the package. Triple E Training can assist with supplying the necessary documentation and administration for claiming grants if requested.

    18.1 = employed
    18.2 = unemployed

    4. Mining-Training-in-a-Box Unpacked [18.2]

This package is made up of the following options:

EDUCATE: AET, duration 15 days per ABET level
ENRICH: Learnership (Business Practice), duration 1 year
